Happy Friday, everyone!

Today's Leader is...Lena the Blue Whale!  Please enjoy this fun story about a boy whose parents buy a blue whale to teach him responsibility: Billy Twitters and His Blue Whale Problem. It's written by one of our favorite authors, Mac Barnett (he wrote Chloe and the Lion and Sam and Dave Dig a Hole).

Today is May 8, 2020.

Lena and Darla have been learning some new words in French:

whale: baleine (BAH-leh-nah)
water: eau (rhymes with "owe")

Try these!  Can you find the verbs?  Remember, verbs can be action words. They can also be words like am, are, is, was, were, be, being, been, have/has/had, do/does/did, can/could, shall/should, will/would...

1. a whale isn't a fish blue whales eat krill

2. instead    have    Blue    baleen    teeth.    of   whales

3. Blue whales   have to    hafta      has to     breath     breathe      air.

Today's Math Challenge!  🐋🐳

Lena the Blue Whale swam 13 miles on Monday.  She swam 14 miles on Tuesday. She swam 2 miles on Wednesday. How many miles did Lena swim in all?

Extra Challenge!  If Lena swims one more mile, how many miles will she have swum in all?
